The scientific committee welcomes the submission of abstracts.

  • The deadline for the submission of abstracts is February 15, 2011.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  • Abstracts must be submitted via online.

Abstract submission guidelines:

Authors are kindly requested to adhere to the following submission guidelines:

  1. Presenting author's contact details: e-mail address, post code and full postal address, daytime and evening phone number, full first and family name (J.J.C. Smith), department, institution / hospital, city, state (if relevant), country.
  2. Abstract title – limited to 20 words in UPPER CASE.
  3. Abstract text – limited to 300 words, including acknowledgements, graphs/tables/images in Word. Tables – A maximum of 3 tables of up to 10 rows x 10 columns can be included per abstract. Graphs and images – It is important to note that each image included in the abstract is worth 30 words. A maximum of 3 images can be included per abstract. Graphs and images must be presented in files JPEG or EPS. Images in other files will not be accepted.
  4. Abstracts should clearly state: Purpose – Material – Methods – Results – Conclusions.
  5. Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word appears the first time. Use generic names of drugs.
  6. Abstract category – abstracts must be allocated to a specific category for the Scientific Programme. Abstracts will be published in the official Congress abstracts book.

The Scientific Committee will determine whether the abstract will be accepted as oral or poster presentation, with consideration given to the author’s preference.

Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered participants. Registration must be received by the Congress Office by March 15, 2011 to ensure inclusion of the abstract in the meeting publications and in order to be scheduled for presentation.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Congress Office.
